Historical Amnesia and the Destruction of Liberty

We no longer live in the original America conceived of by our founders. The America that we now inhabit, even though we claim citizenship here, are actually citizens of a very different nation than that which was originally founded in 1776. In fact, the nation that we now occupy is in stark opposition to that nation which penned both the Declaration of Independence and the united states Constitution.

This disintegrating change of the original philosophy of American Liberty did not happen overnight or in a year, or even in a single decade. The change happened over many decades and as a result of rabid bias and faulty education which self consciously sought to re-structure the American Republic toward an anti God, anti Christian sentiment. This educational movement was firmly based in the ideology of the French Revolution, Marxism and soft tyranny, all of which are violently antagonistic to the Christian Principles of Scripture. 

Consider these principles.
1. Ideas are based upon beliefs.

2. Beliefs are based upon certain presuppositions about God, man and the world. These make up a person’s world and life view.

3. All people hold to a set of presuppositions.

4. Presuppositions are inherently religious.

5. Ideas have consequences since they dictate action.

6. In order to determine the faith of any nation one needs only to look at the institutions of that nation and the laws that govern that nation. The laws will either be fallible man-made laws which are subject to all manner of errors or they will be founded upon eternal principles which are divinely inspired and which have been proven to be good and beneficial throughout the history of the world.

The founders of America believed that only the eternal principles of Scripture could insure liberty, safety and prosperity. As long as those principles remained intact as a standard and foundation of the nation the nation would strive and prosper. If those standards were neglected, changed, perverted or repudiated in any way whatsoever, the nation would be placed in extreme peril. God’s blessing would be removed, tyranny would set in and the nation would ultimately be destroyed through the enslavement of its people.

America began as a Christian nation. It began with the Puritans and continued with the Colonists. The goal for the establishment of America was “for the Glory of God and the advancement of the Christian faith.” (Mayflower Compact 1620) 

As early as September 1648, in Cambridge Massachusetts,  the synod of the New England churches defined the nature of government ,the functions of the civil magistrate and the duty of citizens. The first declaration in part is as follows:

“God the Supreme Lord and King of all the world, hath ordained civil magistrates to be under Him, over the people, and for His own glory and the public good…for the defense and encouragement of them that do well, and for the punishment of evil doers…”

The standard for good and evil was Holy Scripture. This would make many of the things that are acceptable in our modern society evil and unlawful even though they have been sanctioned by law or statute to be good (or at least lawful). Once the standard of Scripture is ignored any evil can be sanctioned as good and all that is good can in turn be regulated or restricted as evil. This is the position we are today as a result of ignoring our roots and the place of God’s Word in the national structure. 

 
Even with a simple superficial reading of the charters of the early colonies will prove that Christianity was the foundation that gave meaning, direction, stability and purpose to the fledgling America. America was based upon one religious standard and was not put on par with any other. In 1905 Justice David Brewer  gave a series of lectures which became his book, “The United States; A Christian Nation” in which he stated:

“We constantly speak of this republic as a Christian Nation – in fact, as the leading Christian nation in the World…In no other charter or constitution is there anything to even suggest that any other than the Christian religion is the religion of this country…in none of them is Mohammed, or Confucius or Buddha in any manner noticed. In none other is Judaism recognized other that by way of toleration of its special creed. ..I could [also] show how largely our laws and customs are based upon the laws of Moses and the teachings of Christ; how constantly the Bible is appealed to as the guide of life and the authority in questions of morals…”

This was the structure of America and the liberty that it promised.  It was only as a result of the infiltration of Enlightenment thinking and the ideology of socialistic egalitarianism perpetrated by the government schools system that the Truth of our Nation’s heritage has been eclipsed. Even as early as the colonial period these godless ideology were already at work undermining the society and some of its most important founding documents. As a result many have decided that America was not founded as a Christian nation. And yet the documents speak otherwise at least to a general consensus of the fundamentals of Christianity and its fundamental reliance on Scripture.

It is time to pull back the veil of confusion and deceit and not only re-introduce the Original Christian America to Americans who have bought into the lie of pluralism, statistism and the egalitarian notion that in America all religions stand upon equal ground, but to go further by eradicating any anon Christian precepts that the founders failed to deal with. 

If America is to ever see a revitalization of liberty, which insures a prosperous future for the coming generations, it must start by re-introducing those principles of Biblical Christianity including America’s founding documents to the common folk. We must begin by establishing a systematic re-education program based upon Truth so that the lies of the anti Christian remnant may be uncovered and destroyed.

The Divine Mandate for Christ Centered Education

The education of the Christian is not to up to individual discretion. God explicitly commands Christians to be educated from a firm and faithful Biblical vantage point. All education, if it is to be TRUE, is to be taught from a Scriptural epistemology. This insures both liberty and justice. The precepts of Scripture, when applied to the areas of the social order has proven to do just that.

God accepts no other form of education whatsoever but that which coincides with His Law-Word. God alone has the authority to set the standard for education, and that standard is the Christian Scriptures. The historical covenants and constitutions which founded the American Republic are the foundations of this nation. It is upon those principles of law, justice, equity which has established the ethical nature of this nation and the education God expects all Christians to abide by. 


Since education is “the” tool for Christian dominion and the advancing of righteousness, God forbids it to be conducted by the state. Since the statist school is structured as an indoctrination stronghold for anti Christian ideas, there are no “good” statist schools. This is true also for colleges and other humanistic strongholds of higher learning. Educational jurisdiction is to remain solely with the parents with assistance from the church and Christian based institutions.

Our nations is in a moral graveyard tail spin as a direct result of statist education. The indoctrination of the populace by the statist schools has paved the way for the insanity and looming tyranny we now face.

The question is "Why is education so important and why has there been such a commotion over the issue of who educates"? We might even ask “What is valid education and who decides what is valid and what is not?”

Why is Education so Important?

First, by way of education Christ commissions the church in His Great Commission Mandate.

Mt 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

First, education was always the key to advancing Christ’s Kingdom, which in turn insured individual freedom as well as national prosperity. The Levitical priesthood of the Hebrew Republic was commissioned with the education of the people along with the heads of each household. This was a safeguard for the generational continuity of the covenant people from statist tyranny and Divine sanctions for ethical apostasy.

Second, it is a well known fact that through education the value system of a nation is established – whether it is Christian or Humanistic. Nebuchadnezzar knew this when he re-indoctrinated the Hebrew children as did Hitler when he stated, 

“…This new Reich will give its youth to no one, but will itself take youth and give to youth its own education and its own upbringing.” (Shirer, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich)

Third, education sets the national goal and agenda. Education is goal oriented. 

Fourth, there is no such thing as neutrality in education. Every education system along with its curriculum has as its root a theological assumption. Education is religious. 

Fifth, there is no such thing as a hard cold fact. All facts are created by God and are interpreted my man according to his presupposition. Thus, l facts are interpreted facts and are explained through a bias which is fundamentally religious. 

Sixth, education controls the future.

Seventh, if education is controlled by the wicked, the nation will eventually be destroyed from within and without. We are now witnessing this reality.

In 1559 John Calvin, understanding these principles, established his Academy in Geneva. If the reformation was to service and flourish individuals, especially the children and the future of the nation, it needed a solid Christian foundation. Calvin’s academy was not only a school, but it was a fortress which sought to maintain and advance the Crown Rights of Christ the King and advance His knowledge to the world. That kingdom and its law was based on a righteous equitable structure with Divine underpinnings. Calvin’s academy was a tremendous success and can be clearly traced to America’s Christian roots. Now we must remember that the Law of God is not tyrannical as Islamic law. It is a just law and structures much of our American law system today.

Although the Puritans brought this educational ideology to the New World it was eventually hijacked by the Unitarians, Arminians and those who espoused what was called, “Common Sense Realism” 

So Why all the Commotion over Education?

People and educators intuitively know that those who control education control the world and the future of the society. Education is about power. For the humanist it is about establishing power against God, His Christ, His Law, and against His people. For the Christian, however, education is about establishing Righteous dominion for the Glory of God and the benefit of the entire global order. It is a goal where men can be free from the threat of tyranny or the confiscation of their property, goods or the unjust incarceration of their person.

Our battle is one of education more than it is about anything else since education is the “training arm of every aspect of life”. Every elected officer who holds to a God hating, stranglehold public policy has been educated by the humanistic education system, along with the people who ignorantly voted for them.

Christians must take an offensive approach to education. This means that throughout all seasons of the education process, not neglecting the college and graduate years, education must be explicitly Scriptural and Biblically based.

Gary DeMar gives some advice.

“The Christ centered school approach will raise up a generation of Christians who can evaluate all of life from a Biblical perspective and thus feed the world with the knowledge needed for wisdom unto salvation.” 1

What to Do?

1.   If you have children in government schools remove them at once. Opt for a religious reason. Contact the Home School Legal Defense League for assistance.

2.   Home education if you can. There are many helps in this area. Contact New Geneva if you need assistance.

3.   Use private Christian schools if you can afford them but beware you must be engaged and supervise everything. Parents are not to be delinquent of their educational responsibilities even when their children go to Christian schools.

4.   Use ONLY faithful Christian colleges for higher education which is thoroughly Reformed, Biblically solid, and which are affordable.

1. God and Government: A Biblical, Historical and Constitutional Perspective 

Liberty or Tyranny

What we have witnessed in the political and economic arena these past several years is a culture embroiled in moral confusion. It seems as if most Americans haven’t a clue as to what “freedom” is and what the Constitution of these united states actually says. Coupled with this, and even  more incredible is that much of Christian America is ignorant of the Laws of God, which originally structured Western Civilization’s Law-code. 

Economist Franklin Sanders is correct when he asserts that when individuals say “they believe in freedom” they really mean that they believe in license. While license allows one to indulge in his or her lusts without hindrance, freedom is “ordered liberty”, which originally formed the American nation. This means that one is free to do only what is morally right. The standard of that “right” is, and always has been up until the present time, The Christian Scriptures.

The confusion over the idea of freedom is astounding. It is so profound a confusion that one must dig deeply to find anyone who actually understands what American freedom actually is. While a man may be “free to murder”, in that he has the physical power to do so, he is not morally free to do such a thing. The reason for this is simply because the moral compass of true freedom comes from Scripture. 

It appears that the majority of the American people (at least outside of the South – but that is recently waning) have embraced license rather than ordered liberty. This results is libertinism not liberty.

For example, consider what the American people are fighting for: the “right” to indulge in public euphoria from various drugs, the “right” to destroy the Biblical family via same sex unions, the “right” to collect government money via welfare even when they are able to work, the right to murder unborn children and the right of government sponsored health care including contraception by legal mandate. The list is endless. But it doesn’t stop there.

Government officials are also to blame for exchanging freedom for license. These include those in public office at the local level as well as the state and federal level. Everyone is to blame.

In light of America’s looming debt and the dark uncertainty of its future it is incumbent upon local governments to make provisions for their citizenry. This does not mean more frivolous spending and social policies using taxpayer funds. It means providing an environment of freedom from oppressive regulations and taxation.

City, Town and County governments are the last line of defense from an over extending federal despot. Citizens and local magistrates must never underestimate the importance and the power of local government.

If local government is going to protect the integrity of liberty it cannot follow the pattern of Washington. To do so will result in the demise of liberty even on the local level. The result, Tyranny.

What To Do??

1.   Run for a local office or get responsible like-minded people to run and assist them in the campaign. You may even make a play for the school board in order to run interference on their insatiable desire for more money.

2.   Talk to your local reps and make sure they understand what true liberty is. If they do not dedicate your life to replacing them with men who understand Liberty as it only found under God’s law.

3.   Write consistently to your local newspaper in order to re-educate the masses as to what liberty actually is. Be specific by using examples from the policies of overreaching Federal intrusion and show how it is destroying liberty in the name of liberty.

4.   Write to your state reps. Get others to write as well.  Emails do not usually work but they may be a good backup. Phone calls are best. Make one call every week and get as many others as possible to do likewise.

5.   Talk to local pastors. Make sure they understand the severity of liberty’s demise. Encourage them to speak to their congregation on these issues.

6.   Talk to your local Sheriff and find out where he stands on Federal encroachment. Encourage him to stand with the authorities from Oregon and Wyoming in light of the threat of federal tyranny.

If you are going to make things happen you must take action. Thinking about it will not get the job done.
